Who can be part of a Dragon Boat Team?

This is a sport that is accessible to everybody, at any level of fitness or paddling ability. The basic requirement to be on any team is commitment to attend practices and try your best. You will be part of a team of twenty other people who will count on you to do your part to make the team as best as it can be.

Anyone from the age of 18 to 99 can paddle with us.

 

What’s it cost to join a team?

Team fees vary.

Beginners: $100

Advanced: $265 (includes one race entry fee)

Team Fees pays your membership to the Nelson Community Dragon Boat Club, equipment, coaching, administration and insurance

 

What about paddles and life jackets?

Paddles and life jackets from the club can be used. When you decide this is a sport for you, we encourage you to purchase you own paddle and life jacket to ensure correct sizing, and save wear and tear on equipment for new members. Special discount rates for purchase are available to team members.

 

What’s the Nelson Community Dragon Boat Club?

A non-profit organization which has been formed to promote the development of dragon boating as a community building tool which is inclusive of all ages, genders, and athletic abilities

Our coordinator will provide any kind of team support you need, from use of a dragon boat, coaching, training tips, or team building clinics
